Hi. I signed up with lunarpages last week. My account includes 2 paid addon domain. Name servers to the domains has been changed.
The tech support has been helpful but still have 2 issues:  Sad
1. Added add-on domain name doesn't show up on the list on Add-on Domain page though it shows up on the subdomain page. Is there a problem with the C-Panel?
Tech support fixed this on the back end. but since I have issues with my add-on domain email (see below), I deleted all of the add-on domains, but the add-on domain name remained in the download alias/filter backup list  even though the folders for the add-on domain had already been deleted.  Support had finally deleted the addon on the backup list. Now starting from fresh, after adding the addon the problem of not showing on the list still persist. Any suggestions on what I should do?

2. Using Netscape email. The main account domain  email pop3/smtp and the addon domain email pop3 works fine, but not the addon domain email smtp (outgoing). What do you think is the problem. Tech support can't seem to solve this.

Lunarpages has good review on the web, that is why I signed up. But this is my second week, and  the issues still persist. I hope I don't loose my patience.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nelson

Nelson,
In response to #1, there is nothing I can do, support may have to manually change this one for you. I had a similar problem, but they removed it, and it worked fine when I added it again. I think there is a bug in the CPanel software however (its a third party application that lunarpages uses). Last time I heard, there was rumours of a custom lunarpages control panel program that will get around the issues some people have been having, but its not been officially released yet! support@lunarpages.com is your best bet for this one.

Does it show up as: subdomain.yourdomain.com or as a seperate domain?

2) When did you signup/transfer your DNS? I found that when I transferred my DNS, I had some strange problems similar to that, and when the domain finally pointed correctly, and not just on my computer the issues went away. Give yourself 24-72hrs before you get too worried.

As a temporary fix, you can always use your main domain to send email through until the otherone moves over properly.

Are you using the correct method of logging in to it? Just something to try, try authenticating using your main username and password (the one you use to access CPanel). Basically, since they are both at the same server, you should be able to authenticate with this no problem. If that doesn't work, then it is most likely a DNS/domain transfer issue that should go away. If that does work, then double check that you have your username setup correctly. Make sure you are selecting the authenticate with SMTP server. The Lunarpages server require that you login to send mail, so that other non customers can't use your server, or domain name to send spam.

Hope you get it working, let us know if any of those suggestions worked!

P.S. About those good reviews on lunarpages.. they are true (and no, I dont get anything for saying that!). Other hosting companies advertise good support, and when I emailed them... some of them have not responded yet! Smile Lunarpages got back to me within about 30mins with a detailed answer.

Kata,

Thanks for your response and suggestions.

Support told me that there wasn't a problem with the CPanel. Which I don't believe. At least you confirm what I am experiencing.

Support has deleted the unnessary domain name. My add-on domain is showing as subdomain.yourdomain.com in the subdomain page and add-ondomain.com, which are fine now.

I transfered by DNS for the 2 domain (main and the addon) at the same day, more than a week ago. I tested it again today, the main one works both ways(pop3/smtp) but the addon only works on pop3 but not smtp.
Yes, it will work by using the userid of my main account, but that is not acceptable because my clients need to be able to send out mail using their userid and password and not mine. I am still finding a way to solve this. I cannot find the authenticate with SMTP server in Netscape email.
But my argument is if it works on using the main account username/password then it's not the client email (netscape).

Thanks,
Nelson

Dont quote me on the bug thing, I just encountered a giltch which corrupted some of my settings, and then when they cleaned it up, and I added it again later all was well! Could be a bug.. could not. We might have just both been victim to a CPanel burp  Razz

Heres something else to try. Since it is a seperate domain but it configured as an addon domain, you should be able to access your email through both domains (using the different email logins), even though they appear to be seperate server setups.

Try logging into your webmail with the addon domains email. If that works, then we can narrow the problem down alot!

If that wont let you login, then support@lunarforums.com is your only bet!

Make sure you are logging on with the full address. Then try sending some test emails from there.

try:

user@addondomain.com
user+addondomain.com
user#addondomain.com

See if any of that works, if it does then it is probably on your side.

Ed,

Hi. Thank for trying to help me. I appreciate it.

I have contacted support by phone and I have went through the process on a new add-on domain (new domain name), and yes support have aknowledge that they are working on a cpanel fix. What happen is when I add the new add-on  domain, the DNS had already been created. It seems like the DNS gets created first before the add-on domain.
Well, support had to manually remove the DNS and have me create the add-on domain again. So far it works on this new domain. The email (pop3/smtp)on this addon doamin also works.

The email (smtp) problem I have been having on my previous add-on domain still exist. May be I have to move the domain NS out and back again to lunarpages. I'll try to see if that works.

I hope Lunarpages gets the Fixed CPanel out soon.
I can say lunarpages support is good and helpful.

Nelson,

Glad to see things are gettign better for you! I was starting to wonder, after I hadn't heard back for a bit!

If you got the other addon domain working, it might be just as simple as doing the same thing again for the addon that wasn't working.

the CPanel DNS problem is the exact same one I had. Hopefully it will be fixed soon!

You don't have to adjust the domain name settings, it should be just a simple removal and readd on the lunarpages end of things!

Good luck ;-)

Glad to hear support was able to help ya!
