I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place.  I just signed up for Lunarpages today and was amazingly all set up in under 15 minutes, so I just wanted to say that's the freakin best turnaround time I've ever had (and boy have I had some bad hosting ._.)

Anyway, to my question:

In my CPanel there's the option to auto-install a messageboard.  The link at the bottom left of the browser says "xmb.html" or something to that effect.  Is this auto-installer only for XMB?  I've read around a bit on the forum and it seems that most are using phpBB2, and I wasn't sure if there was an auto-installer for that too or if it's just for XMB.  I haven't really messed around with it yet because I don't wanna mess up my database (if that's possible) so is it phpBB2 or XMB?

Sorry to be so windy :x

Which message board?  I looked on mine and didn't see one that said xmb.  If you click on the "Forum/BB" icon, it will take you to the phpBB install.  If you click on CGI on the CPanel front page, then scroll, you'll see options for a couple of guestbooks.

If you choose to install the phpBB, you will just need an added database on your account (if you have a standard account) or you can just use your allowable database for the phpBB.  Note: If you use your allowable db for the board, you can later go in and make tables in that database to store other data.  The board just won't search for anything in those other tables.

What I was referring to was that the icon and link names have "xmb" in the name (when it's hovered over and appears at the bottom left) so I wasn't sure if it was a phpBB install or XMB.  Sorry for the confusion.

A Few last questions I'd like to ask at the risk of looking really stupid:.

When creating an sql database (for the forum obviously) does the database need to be named anything specific?

For the database User and Password fields do I just create the db and user separately then add that user to the db?

When I add that user to the database, is that username and password the same I'd use in the phpBB install under the database configuration section?

And do I just leave access hosts alone and just go with "localhost"?

I'm really sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I have all my bases covered.  Thanks in advance and sorry again.

If you're installing the phpBB, don't make a database at all.  It will make it.  After that, you can go into your sql section and add users to the database, and add tables for your own use if you like.
