Hiya... Ive used the backing up function in CPanel to upload the backup to a different server, to avoid me having to download it every time on my slooow 56k modem.  Only problem is that I dont think the free host im transfering the data to appreciates me dumping backups on their server and keeps on deleteing it, which is quite understandable.  I was wondering if anyone knows a free host that will allow me to dump the backup onto their server... It needs to allow a minimum of 100Mb space. And I dont want to dump the data to my lunar pages account.

If not then I have a question.  I have a friend who is on a fast connection and is willing to download the backup onto their computer, the only problem being that I dont want him to find the mySQL password in one of the files.  What I was wondering was wheter i could temporaraly delete the file and then make a backup of it... If I click on backup does it generate a backup of what is on the server right then or does it utilize a previous bacup made say a few hours ago???

Thanks

I beleive backup makes an image of what is there  at that moment! Thats why it takes a sec, and you can set it to send you an email when the backup is complete!

Check the free hosts policy. They probably wouldn't mind .. if you have a website up there as well.

You might be able to find an online 'drive' to backup to as well. Xdrive.com might still be around for that purpose!

you could always just get a blank CDR and stop by the library or a place with public high speed, and get it from there!

I back up my stuff from school, and its a few seconds to download everything (ahh.. OC48 is nice :p)

Thanks, but I couldnt find a free host that would allow this...
Oh by the way I need confirmation of whether cpanel makes an image of the current data or utilizes a previous backup
