I have a friend who's looking for a new registrar and maybe a new hosting company. I'd like to recommend Lunarpages (I use them) but he has a special need.
He currently has the following:
1)
www.hisdomain.com hosted by the hosting company
2) special.hisdomain.com
points to Linux server running on a
Linux webserver on his LAN
So it looks like the hosting company's DNSs are set to resolve the two URLs to different addresses--one to their web server and one to the static IP that he has provided them for the Linux webserver on his LAN. He does pay the hosting company an extra monthly fee for this feature.
Can Lunarpages do this? An extra fee is OK (if so, how much?)? This sounds similar to the "point to different directories with just one account" mentioned in this thread but it's not exactly the same.
