If you don't have your domain name registered through lunarpages, you can simply register a new domain and update your DNS, you will have to contact lunarpages to update this change. There may be a nominal fee to do the update. (Can anyone else confim this?).  For a quick changover however, you can always just use the new doman as a parked domain.

thanks for the quick reply.  Smile

my account is registered through lunarpages. now, i dont know what is meant by parked domain.

what i want is this....
www.old-name.com will be changed into www.new-name.com

but the content/design of the old-name will still be in use at new-name.
however, i will need to use new email address for the new-name. (e.g. info@new-name.com)

Ok, the easiest way to go about doing this, is to register the new domain (you can either do it through lunarpages, or through a 3rd party like www.the other hosting company.com). when it is purchased, set the DNS nameservers to the lunarpages one (see the FAQ pages), and add the new domain name in your CPanel, using the bottom near the bottom of the list: Parked domains

You should then be able to use both domains to access your site, and be able to setup email on both domains. You can setup the email on the old domain to auto forward to the new addresses as well.

You can see what I mean by this setup:

www.jokeawhenever.com <- my main site
www.switchfootdesign.com <- my parked domain (until I get the site up).

Both point to the same server/files but have a different name, and email addresses

Post again, if you have any problems!

Good luck!

If you want a brand new spanking domain name. The charge is $14.95, thats for the registration we have to pay to have it registered for a year.

You will own the domain name. And if you decide to move it away from us you can do so very easily.

We cannot buy the old domain off you, but you can sell domains on www.ebay.com if you like.

Send an email to: billing@lunarpages.com with the new domain name you want etc, and they can do it for you.

Or you can do it yourself. The $14.95 that Lunarpages.com charges you is not a big markup, its simply the price they pay to register is with an internic approved registrar. ( In other words, they handle all the 3rd party dirty work for you, and all that stuff that would be complicated if you did on your own).
