i just got a call from a customer and they were complaining thats its too combersome to download the file they paid for from me so i thought i would write you and see if maybe you could assist..

as it is set up now, the files (about 30 of them they are pdf files by the way ) are in a pw folder on lp.  when a customer wants a file they pay me then i go in manually and set them up a username and  pw on the folder.

then they go back to the web page click on the file again, log in and the download automattcally starts in the browser.
thats all good accept for the really large files of 300mb, so what i tell them to do is to log in, close the page, then go back to the page and right click on the file and select target as...  the system remembers they already logged in so then they can just choose their location and it wont tie up their memory or browser...

what i woudl like to do is to just open a windows download box, and never have it downlaod to the browser only again.  but i have never done that.
how is that accomplished ? they click on the file on the web page, log in and get  the download box.

is it as simple as on the webpage the file links are listed on to put a meta tag in the header for this :
Content-disposition: attachment; filename=fname.ext

update what i found so far is that i have to build a php or asp process for every file with the content header instruction or zip each file....  there are 30+ files, has to be an easier way than to have to process that one instruction for each and every file individually in a php file...

has to be a way in my html page to tell it to open the box for file downloads, one instruction one simple way...mmm still searching, if you can help would be appreciated.
