I just recently signed up with this company, hope you all can help me out.

I havent changed the DNS yet, I want to upload my site first.  When I try and do this some files upload just fine and others seem to be unreadable for some reason.  This happens with certain .JPG files and .swf files

a message pops up saying its a 500R error...

Im using Dreamweaver4 on a Mac
Does this have anything to do with using a firewall or passive ftp?

The directory I am uploading to is /www/...is this correct?

thanks for any help you guys
Ben

It is probably because you are uploading in ASCII mode instead of Binary mode.

Are you uploading by FTP?

It depends which ftp program you are using, but somewhere, there will be a button/option which lets you choose Ascii, Binary, or Auto.

It needs to be on auto.

http://pegasus.lunarpages.com/~benleo2/

it seems to be working great now...

I switched it on to 'passive ftp' mode and I enabled the firewall...
I dont know, I guess that just did the trick.

cool

thanks again

Dreamweaver is fine for uploading.  It 'knows' what to upload ascii and what to upload binary, EXCEPT PERL SCRIPTS!  Use a regular FTP client for those.  I haven't really looked for the existence of an upload type setting in DW, but I use the program constantly.  You can safely upload anything with it except perl.

As Stephan said, try passive FTP in your site settings.
