I'm trying to a bit of house keeping on my webspace and delete folders that I don't use any more.  I keep getting 'you don't have permission' errors, even if I alter the Chmod to give everyone permission.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Are they directories in your public_html directory?

Are you using FTP or the CPanel file manager to delete the directories?

With FTP, the directories need to be empty before you delete them.

Yes there are directories on my account but I've deleted the files before trying to delete the actual folder.  They are all in the public_html directory.

I'm currently using CuteFTP.  I had a go using the file manager but I couldn't seem to go beyond the public_html folder into my web directories  Confused

Ok. I know what probably happened.

Some files are created by PHP under a different username.

What you need to do is go to the CPanel file manager.

To browse through the directories, click on the directory icons, not the directory names.

When you see the directory you want to delete, click on it's name, then select delete.
