Hi there,

I was trying to upload a large file to my webspace the other day, however I had to disconnect in the middle as I needed the phone.  When I reconnected, I found I couldnt resume the upload, and I got the error:

APPE Pics.zip
451 Pics.zip: Append/Restart not permitted, try again.

Isn't resume supported?  I've tried two FTP programs, SmartFTP and LeechFTP and they both fail.

Thanks

From the error message you got, it suggests that the ftp server does not support resuming uploads.

However, most ftp servers don't.

How big is the file you were trying to send?

Well, its the first FTP server for me not to be able to resume heh

The file wasnt big, a few megs, I can easily upload it again, its just a pain when you are on 56k with a 2 hour cut off, means its impossible to upload anything over a certain size for me anyway, assuming I can stay online for 2 hours without getting disconnected in some other way heh.

I found a manual for the FTP server software that lunarpages uses, and that 451 error message means that the resume feature is disabled.  It can be enabled though, although i'm not sure if lunarpages would enable it.

Well, maybe they might enable it for you, I know how annoying 56k modems are!

I can't speak on their behalf though. Try e-mailing support@lunarpages.com and see what they say.

That would be a feature I would like to see enabled as well. I hope that Max and the staff will take this into consideration.
Thanks.
