Hey.  First of all, it seems like my domain name isn't even set up yet (but I got the confirming email with all of the information).

I bought it through Lunarpages, so the DNS thing doesn't need to be touched.

For some reason it seems like my domain doesn't even exist.  When I tried to use Fetch FTP, it couldn't find the host at ftp.mydomain.com, or just mydomain.com, but I did get into it at galaxy.lunarpages.com, which is strange.  I thought my domain was my domain, not a subdomain of Lunarpages?

Then I tried to install PHP BB.  I use a Mac, so I need a Mac FTP program (using Fetch for now, but don't know how to change to ASC II, or Binary file modes), and when I tried to load up install.php, it can't find it.  Actually, my browser can't find anything on my domain at all.  Very bizarre.

Something has to be missing or I'm not doing something right.  I'm new at this.  "[Smile]"

Domains take a while to start working.

Up to 72 hours, normally less though.

It's just how the internet works unfortunately.

Your phpbb problem is almost certainly due to the domain not having started to work yet.

It will all happen soon.

I'm sure there's a ping function on your Mac.  If not, try  http://network-tools.com/ and type your domain into the field.  They do a whois, host resolve, ping, trace, the whole bit.  You'll know when it's live.
Have fun!

Thanks guys.

I just thought when they sent you the confirmation e-mails with all of the information on your account being set up that it was all ready to go, but I guess that doesn't include the DNS thing they do for you.  "[Smile]"

Thanks again.

It's just because the new DNS settings have to be copied around the internet.

All the dns servers on the internet need to be updated, and it takes a while.

It's normally fairly quick though, around 24 hours normally does it, normally...
