added an email account in cpanel
clicked the automatically configure outlook express button

opened outlook express

received email fine

tried sending email and got this error

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'xxxxxxxx@xxxxx.com, Server: 'mail.xxxxxxx.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

came here and read some topics concerning sending email with out look.

opened outlook and went to
tools / accounts / mail / highlighted email / properties / servers / checked the button that says my server requires authentication / clicked settings button / clicked log on using / made sure that the information matched what the mail account said in cpanel

also read something about port 25 - is this my problem??

is there anything i can do to fix it??

thanks

Hi Perro,

If you are using Outlook Express, I suggest you tick "My server requires authentication" in servers.

Try this using mail servers mail.yourdomainname.com or yourservername.lunarpages.com (eg galaxy.lunarpages.com)

If this does not work for you, try using your ISPs smtp server information. Please contact your ISP to get this information.

It's not uncommon for an ISP to require their customers to use the information they provide for outgoing mail servers.

Is that exactly what it says, or did you put the x's in there?

Is this in Outlook, or Outlook Express, and what is the mail server you are trying to connect to?  If it's yahoo mail, Yahoo allows POP access only for their pay accounts.

If yours is a pay account, let me know.  Also, I don't know if yahoo mail can do http access accounts like hotmail, but I'll see.
