Go to DOS (or bash in Linux)

Type ping pluto.lunarpages.com

That should work, (unless they change the name of server aswell)

Why do you need to know the IP address?

Thank you for your help.  I probably should have been more specific in my question.

What I meant was:

Will I have a new ip when my account is moved to the new server, and if so, what will it be?

I'm asking because I want to be able to access my site directly if needed while the DNS network resolves the new ip.

Thanks again for your help.

There is not an individual IP address for each site.

To access your paid website, if you are waiting for a domain name, go to http://pluto.lunarpages.com/~yourusername

To access a paid site without a domain name, choose yourusername.lunarpages.com

Hmmmmm... let me try again.  Maybe I just misunderstand part of the process, in which case you can help me with that instead.

I understand that my account does not have an individual IP.

I believe if a new shared ip is implemented, the DNSs will take some time to resolve my account name to that new ip, meaning thom41.lunarpages.com will be no more accessible than www.dogstardogpound.com (both of which are pre-existing by the way, nothing new)

However, if I understand my documentation correctly, my site can be accessed directly using the following syntax:

http://thesharedIP/~thom41

I would like to have that ip in case there's some immediate need during that unreliable period during which the DNSs update, and I have trouble accessing the site through the name servers.

Thanks again.

Oh right, I see what you mean now.

I think that when you set up a domain, the delay is caused by the domain name being set up to use lunarpages' nameservers.
If they change the IP, it doesn't matter, because you do not have to change the IP address of the nameserver, you just have to change the zonefile on the nameserver to point to somewhere else.

Therefore, I don't think there will be a delay.
