I am caught in the pass around with developers and hosting company.  Users cannot login to membership site.  It was working when first setup for a couple of months and now some can login and some cannot.  The site is comprised of wordpress, Optimized Press theme and Digital Access Pass.  I am told by DAP that scripting of session.save_path needs to be added to php.ini file and pointed to a folder.  Cannot get an answer as to what folder.  Can anyone help me with this?

You can try just creating a folder somewhere on your site, and putting it in your php.ini file as suggested. "Pointed to a folder" suggests that there's no specific name needed -- pick something random-sounding so hackers can't guess it. You will of course need to create the folder through cPanel or LPCP. If it doesn't work, no harm done -- just comment out your change to php.ini before trying something else. Was your server recently upgraded to PHP 5, or some other change that you know of?
