Hi All,

I'm looking for a host and thought I'd ask you, the users, about Lunarpages.  I'd be getting the $8/month plan.

Here are my questions:

1.  What problems have you encountered with Lunarpages?  Downtime?  Slow servers?  Support?

2.  How many of you use the webmail or popmail features of your site?  Are you happy with them?  I noticed in my email program (an older version of Eudora) that the antispam headers come through.  Have any of you noticed that problem or am I pretty unusual in that respect?

3.  Have any of you used mailman to set up a listserv?  Has that worked alright for you (and the users of the list)?

4.  The one website I've found on here with music keeps its files on iuma.com.  Anyone here offering audio (streaming or otherwise) to their visitors?  How's that working out for you?

5.  Where do you recommend I puchase my domain name?

Thanks much.

One more thing -- probably for the admin.  I see you do subdomains.  Does that cost extra?  And I read in some thread that there was going to be support for multiple domains on a single account at some point.  Is this true?

Thanks.

Subdomains does not cost extra, but they need to be enabled for you. Please email support@lunarpages.com

Yes. multiple domains will be available later this year.

I can't answer all your specific questions. Here are a few things in general.

I have a large site in production. I have basically been developing the same thing on three different hosts to see what works best and which host has the best service together with the features I need. The money is not the driving consideration, although Lunar is less expensive that the others I have going.

I have not seen any problems with speed or downtime here. These are primary considerations. One of the three sites has already been ruled out because of a few key missing features.

Support is good here and I have only run into a few kind of quirky things that are probably more the result of some complex things I want to do. The capacity to have a stable forum is important and I havn't figured out yet why I am having problems there. It may be XMB which is bundled here, but there is nothing stoping me from using a different BB program except my own laziness.

If forums are not important to you, Lunarpages has everything else going for it. That isn't to say that the forum problems I'm having wouldn't be the same anywhere else. On another site, I haven't been able to get any BB program even working.

Having unlimited email addresses is very important with what I am doing. I have had no problems with email with the experimenting I have been doing. It seems stable and reliable.

Hope this helps.
