What does one do when they cannot use their email because nothing is sending, and they are afraid if they use it the important mail will fall into the abyss? Help!

W/Incoming I get a variety of errors, but it isn't consistant. Every 5th check on the server it comes back with one of three different.

Outgoing is worse, because intermittantly mail just disappears into the abyss. It never gets to its destination. No rejections, no errors. Nothing.

I've been using Yahoo for all my mail for weeks because I never know what is going to happen.

Einstein,

I don't know if I can help you with your problem... but I know that the guys who can are going to want more even more informaiton.... like, what are the errors you're getting (cut and paste them into your message).

Are the problems happening with outlook express? Eudora? Webmail?

Did you just move your domain? Could it be DNS issues?

I'm a new user too, and I know before they can help they need as much info as you can give them.

I can give you all the detail you need. Here goes to first answer your questions:

I use Netscape mail and/or Mailwasher (a spam catcher).  I didn't just move domains. I've been here since December and it just started about a month ago. Nothing has changed on my machine, or my cable provider. I did get a new IP a week or so ago, but the problem was in existence before that.

The pop3 errors I get are:

"No such host. Ensure the pop3 server is correct" (yet it does and will connect on the next try)

or

"The session was intentionally closed by the server before the session was completed". (after a few tries this one will cease and it connects).

I get no errors for the smtp issue. I use my ISPs smtp because server.mydomain.com hasn't ever worked since I came to Lunarpages. But note that the mail disappearance problem also occurrs when I use webmail (Horde). I tested that myself several times. It is all intermittant.

Hopefully the techies you know can offer some ideas. Thx for taking the time.

The "techies" should be able to help you out... keep checking back here, I'm sure they can help. You could also open a support ticket in the mean time.
