Hello,

I'm using SMF 1.1.11 just likfe this forum.
There's an option in the admin control panel to change the URLS to be more search engine friendly.
(For example from:
otakunokoe.com/index.php?board=2.0
to
otakunokoe.com/announcements/ )

The thing is, it says it requires Apache.
I activated the option, but nothing changes. We don't have apache in our hosting plans, or what might be the problem?
(I have had the Basic plan for almost 2 years, i checked in the LP plans and it says it has Apache 2, but i don't know if that's only for new servers, i think the one i'm in was Dreamer.)
In case you need to take a look, the website is, as you can see up there: http://otakunokoe.com

Thank you,

Nick

whois says that your server is Linux with Apache/1.3.41. Double check to see if you still need to update your .htaccess file. SMF's SEF has code in .htaccess to help implement it.

When you say "nothing changes", are you seeing your SMF installation (forum) give the same links as before (with index.php?board= instead of the SEF form)? If so, you didn't install it right or you didn't correctly enable it. Are you seeing the new link URLs, but they don't work (perhaps 404 errors)?

You might want to look over at http://www.simplemachines.org/community to see more discussion on SMF and SEF/SEO.

Hello,

The problem is that the URLs stay the same  (with index.php?board). I even created a new topic to see if it'd apply only to future topics, but it's still the same. (Right now i have it with the normal options)

It's not a mod i'm trying to install, it's a normal feature in the admin panel, so i don't know if i would have to change anything manually (At least i shouldn't).

I will probably post in the SMF forums when i get home from work to see if i can get help with it. But i had to make sure about the apache possibility first.

Thank you very much,

Nick
