What is the difference between a "subdomain", a "parked domain" and an "addon domain"? I couldn't find the latter two in the help file.

Ok I think I've got this right:

Subdomain:

test.jokeawhenever.com

Parked domain:

switchfootdesign.com (points to jokeawhenever.com)

Additinoal Domain:

blahblah.com (points to the files in /public_html/blah

Basically the parked domain is free, and it only points to your main site.

The additional domain, points to another directory, which appears as the root of the domain. So this was you can effectively host two websites that appear to be totally independant on the same account. There is a $2.50 a month fee for this. The First two are free.

Yes you have it correct,
 Sub domain is,
sub.domainname.com
Parked domains are a way to have more than one domain name point to the same web site (google and googel both go to the same web site)

Add on domain is a way to host multiple web sites from the same domain space. Each domain would have its own site (directory)
