How would I go about using FTP protocol instead of HTTP for my downloads?

I don't want to allow anyone to delete my files, though. http://zdnet.com uses this protocol for their downloads.

Hello,

The format is in the form of:

ftp://yourusername:yourpassword@neptune.lunarpages.com

It depends on which server your account is on as to what you place for the domain.  If you have anonymous ftp enabled, the best way is to use an ftp client such as flashfxp and go to the file you wish to allow for download and click on copy url.  That will give you the correct format to use.

It might be worth saying, that putting your username and password in a link is not very secure!

You probably realised that, but just in case...
