Author Topic: Why is LP sill using old Apache 1.3.42 Server?  (Read 800 times)

My LP server is still on Apache 1.3.42, which is so old it's considered end of life (no support or upgrades) by Apache.

I honestly don't feel secure running on server with an OS this old.

What can I do to either get LP to update Apache on my server or switch to a server with a more recent (2.2) version?

It's just inviting hackers to get on our systems.

And if users (us) complain that "oh, now my old so-and-so application doesn't work", I say "too bad, you should update it too".

What version of Apache are the rest of you LunarPagers running? (you can see in the cPanel left-hand column)

We do have many servers running on Apache 2.2.x. If you would like Apache 2.2 for your account, then we would need to move your account to a supporting server. Please submit your request to support@lunarpages.com

We have many users running scripts on the server and we cannot know which accounts we host are using any settings that may not work with the latest version of Apache so we cannot upgrade the shared servers to that later version due to potential compatibility problems.

Edit : We are currently in the process of upgrading all of our shared servers to Apache 2.2.21.  Happy Happy Joy Joy
