Hi!

« on: December 15, 2006, 02:31:36 AM »

Good morning,

I'm a Web Manager who is constantly bombarded with questions from my staff. I have this web editor who needs to convert to the Web a ton of PowerPoint presentations to HTML to make them accessible (from an Accessibility standpoint) to a vast majority of people.

Other than Copy/Paste from PPT to HTML, does anyone know of a better way to complete such a task?

Is this the only solution to copy and paste the content from one to the other or has anyone tried something else with PowerPoint presentations, such as Flash maybe or something...

Any thoughts on this would really help speed up our process. Thanks in advance!

It wouldn't be HTML but you can use OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/) to convert them to PDF or Flash.

I thought in power point there was this option:
File -> Save as Web Page

Otherwise, a search on google for:
export powerpoint to html

came up with a few links:
http://www.processtext.com/abcpower.html
http://www.webaim.org/techniques/powerpoint/convert.php

let us known if they work.
thanks

Bouncin for Joy  Powerpoint has a command under file save as HTML, this works very well on the Web we use it in elearning lessons, and have embedded audio and video.

My problem is not so much the conversion of the document, which most programs can do, but the accuracy of their conversions as they affect accessibility for people who use screen readers. You see, I work for the government and whether I like it or not, I have to create pages that are accessible to the most common denominator.

I tried all of the solutions mentioned above and the best solutions my team and I have found is to convert PPT presentations to Flash Paper (it's part of the Studio 8 Suite)! By doing so, it looks great, keeps the layout and the whole thing can be read by a screen reader.
