Just recently my MySQL database on Lunarpages just began acting wierd.

I got an error on my page, and when I investigated I found that the tables were in MySQL, but they could not be found.

What I mean is that in PHP MyAdmin or any other program to look at a database the tables are present, but when you try to look into them the program says it can not find the file. Closer inspection shows that the tables appear to be undefined in some way. Nothing at all says what kind they are, like MyISAM or anything.

Support said it was a scripting error, but the site had been working and no changes to the site have been made in months. This just suddenly happened. I suspect an upgrade was done and it messed with the DB.

Has anyone experienced this problem?

Thanks

Is the error message that the program cannot find a file or it cannot find a table? Is the error message being generated by MySQL or by PHP? What kind of "odd things" are you seeing with phpMyAdmin? Any error messages from it? Are all the field, key, and index definitions still correct? Were these tables something other than MyISAM (the default)?

The error message says it can't find a file, but the code was never written to find a file, but a table.

The error is a MySQL Error, not a PHP error. And the error is iven present on the PHP MyAdmin that is within the control panel.

Lunarpages keeps saying it is a code problem, but I have three sources that produce the same error. I don't think they can get into the table.  They just see it there and say it's OK. But if they tried getting into it they would find they can't.
My three sources:
1) The code I wrote to display a MySQL error if one was occuring
2) The PHP MyAdmin located within Lunarpages control panel
3) The latest version of a program called MySQL Front.

All of these were able to gain access, then suddenly stopped working, yet Lunarpages insists it is my code that is a problem.

This is *. Did someone buy out Lunarpages? Seems like support is going down hill.

Have you tried going into MySQL Account Maintenance and doing a Check of your database, and then Repair? You might want to try making a backup of the database (via phpMyAdmin) before trying the Repair (no promises that it will correctly back up the database if there are serious errors). If you're getting errors in phpMyAdmin itself, Check should be able to detect problems, and possibly correct them with Repair. Before attempting a Repair, you may want to talk to support to confirm that they have a backup that could be restored if your backup fails. It may or may not cost $$ to do the restore -- it ought to be free if there's any evidence that the server messed up, but if they think it's your code that's bad, they'll charge you. That's all I can think of at the moment. Good luck!
