I see on the basic hosting plan that shell access is available for $2 a month extra. I was considering getting it, but I don't see it listed on my available add-ons page. Is it possible for me to get it after the fact?

Also, the reason I'm considering getting it is for a shoutcast client. I have a shoutcast server elsewhere, but need a way to broadcast to it better. I am currently using a personal linux machine, but would rather have it hosted so I don't have to keep mine running all the time.

Is this possible with a basic account, or am I even allowed to do this? It would simply be relaying it to the server, people wouldn't actually connect to it.

Yes, this could be added at anytime, however you'd need to go with a VPS or Dedicated option to be able to run a Shoutcast server.

Thanks for the quick reply. I kind of figured I couldn't run a server that with my current plan.

With the added shell access, can I launch applications? Because what I want to run isn't actually a shoutcast server. It's just an application that loads media files and sends them to another server (Which in this case is a shoutcast server). I would not be using it as a shoutcast server.

Here is a list of disabled commands with the shared SSH access added:
