I'm wanting to add a RSS feed generator to our custom site, similar to what's available with WordPress.  Activation would be by clicking the RSS link on the menu bar which would bring up the feed for that page in a new window (similar to RSS in WordPress ). The main purpose is to distribute content by RSS to assist with SEO.

My understanding is that there are basically 2 options, RSS 2 or Atom.  It would need to work to work on our static pages and our dynamic database generated pages.

Which would be the better option, RSS or Atom? Or is there value in having  feed generator scripts for both RSS and Atom?

Is there a particular script or scripts that you'd recommend that we use?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,
i think you should try this one.

Cut n’ Paste JavaScript RSS Feed”.

Here are some of the options that this online app gives you.

    Display RSS Feed Categories.
    Display Title Only.
    Display Title and Description.
    Display Date.
    Generate JavaScript Code.
Cut n’ Paste insertion into your code.

Thanks seema. I'll check this out.
What I'm looking for is a feature like this:

http://www.forkliftsjapan.com/feed/

I've also noticed these:
http://code.google.com/p/rss-generator/

http://www.phpclasses.org/package/4356-PHP-Generate-feeds-in-Atom-or-RSS-formats.html

Any other suggestions for adding a feed generator to a site?  Thanks again.

You can use Feedburner as well to generate RSS of any page which gets updated on regular interval of time. it would provide two facilities, it would  give your visitors a way to connect with you with different email ID and would provide you a link where you can see all the items in your RSS

Premium version also provide customization of Design of your RSS feed from which you can get freedom from default design of those feeds and can arrange different things like images, Post title, short description in RSS with your custom design. If you are fetching product feeds from sites like eBay or Amazone, this kind of modification is more beneficial than the simple one.
