Can anyone help me on this. All of a sudden after a number of years my website has all of a sudden become a CPU usage hog? http://www.virtualvienna.net

I have a business account so space should not be a problem

I have no clue what the problem is. Can the number of databases effect this?  My site is a PHPnuke driven site (yea I know, but it has served me well) in fact it is 6 phpnuke sites one in each section. I have added the last 2 in the last few months, but 4 out of the 6 really  really only using he News functions

April 5

Top Process %CPU 41.0 /usr/bin/php /home/*****/public_html/main/modules.php
Top Process %CPU 40.0 /usr/bin/php /home/*****/public_html/main/modules.php
Top Process %CPU 28.0 /usr/bin/php /home/******/public

April 13

Top Process %CPU 66.0 [php]
Top Process %CPU 53.0 [php]
Top Process %CPU 50.0 /usr/bin/php /home/*******/public_html/main/modules.php

Please help me before they kick me to the curb? Thanks in advance?  Confused

Hi Silvia, sorry to hear your having trouble.  Not that familiar with PHPnuke myself, however you might try looking at disabling any plugins or enhancements you have added in, as I know with other scripts (like WordPress) running too many or one that is really working the server hard can have a negative effect on one's hosting account.

Being as PHPnuke was dropped (by LP or Fantastico -- I don't recall which) because its security looked like Swiss cheese, I would not be terribly surprised if your site has been recently hacked. If it was running along nicely and then suddenly started melting the CPU, odds are that you've got hack code running in there now. You have a backup of the site on your PC, against which you can compare your site files, right?

There is a slight chance that something in your system configuration changed, and is causing problems. You would know if you changed anything on your side (e.g., switch to PHP 5, change php.ini contents), but might not be aware of any changes that LP made on its side. If the code (files) are clean, and you didn't change anything, you could open a support ticket asking if anything changed on the server side. Is there a PHPnuke community discussion site where you could ask about security issues?
