We currently have a Drupal site hosted by Lunarpages – www.hdpug.org.  Our organization runs technical projects in which people from our member companies participate.  We use mailing lists to inform the participants of conference calls, meetings, share data, and discuss issues between the participants.  We can send emails to all participants by addressing the email to the list (XXX@hdpug.org).  Any recipient can send comments to the entire list by just replying to the email. We currently have about 32 lists with a max of 200 email addresses and an average of about 25 email addresses per list.  These lists are very important to us, and have been working OK, but we would like to make administration easier and add features.

Our mailing lists are currently hosted by another party and are separate from our website.  This requires us to manually add and remove participants, and to do so at a different place and with a different interface from our website.  We would very much like to integrate these email lists into our Drupal site and have the participants add and remove themselves through the Drupal user profile page.  Integrating the email lists will also allow us to add calendar functionality and other things.

We have looked at Mailman and the Mailman Manager module, but Lunarpages only allows 1 mailman email list with our hosting account.  Additional email lists are prohibitively expensive.  PHPlist appears to handle most of the administration issues, but those emails must be sent from the website, and cannot be sent to the entire list by just replying to the email.

Do any of you have any suggestions or other ways to handle this?  We obviously would prefer an existing solution, but are willing to modify or customize an existing solution to some extent.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mitch,

Thanks for the suggestion.  At the present time, there is no module for integrating Dada mail with Drupal.  Before we take on the job of creating a new module, we want to make sure there isn't a way to modify one of the existing modules.  We also want to make sure that we have the best mail solution before we create a new module.

Another option would be to move our site to another host like Justhost.com or A2 that offer unlimited Mailman lists, but we want to make sure that is the best option before we do it.
