Hello,

Looking for a recommendation for a photo gallery script, I was specifically looking at Coppermine or Gallery 2 / 3.
Can you use Google adsense and analytics with these?

Does anyone here use Coppermine or Gallery, are they worth using? or perhaps there is another one you could point out?

after reading up on this I will probably go with Gallery 3

But, after reading the Setup guide, i see that it request that you

cd gallery3

mkdir var
chmod 777 var

Surely setting the permissions to 777 is not recommended,  Has anyone done this, or will other permisions work?

Those are generic directions. Our servers do not like or need 777 to work. Use 755 for folders instead and 644 for most files.
