I am collaborating with a couple of other people at widely separated sites, to update an application. It would be nice not to have to maintain 3 copies of the application, and email each other with updates, and try to untangle the mess when two people update a file at the same time, etc.

Are there any lightweight Web-based code repositories that we could use? This is a fairly short term project for a small group, so I really would like to avoid setting up a github or SourceForge (etc.) account. It also needs to be kept private (ID and password), but that might be done with password-protected directories. The repository should run just like a regular Web application and allow check-outs for edit, plus "gets" for read-only. Getting and Putting files should be nice and clean over the Web (preferably no separate manual FTP step). Being able to roll back changes and/or branch would be nice, but not absolutely vital (i.e., just "latest version" kept).

Any suggestions? Obviously it has to be something that LP allows (i.e., no background processes). Thanks!
