Today is Friday, and I have a GREAT weekend project for all of you.  Did you know that Google Webmaster Tools could help you find and fix errors on your web site?  As Google crawl through your web site links, it finds and logs all the errors it encounters.

In the March edition of the Lunarpages Newsletter, I posted a guide to help you learn how to Fix Web Site Errors with Webmaster Tools.  Google's Webmaster Tools are really handy to have, and come in handy for more than just your obvious SEO-like reasons.

Give this guide a shot, check it out and then let me know what else you have learned how to do with the Google Webmaster Tools collection.

I'd also be interested in hearing other ways that the Google Webmaster Tools have helped you with your web site.  Applause

One day I looked at WMTs for one of my accounts and found that all the keywords were wrong.  I started looking around and realized my site had been hacked, I might not have known it for a dangerously long time otherwise.  I make sure I check my sites with WMTs all the time now.

Otherwise it handily points out a lot of errors, like bad redirects, missing pages, sitemap errors, etc.,  and it shows a lot of things that Analytics doesn't because it takes into account all pages, not just those with the tracking code on them.

I run a Web Design Company in Michigan and I use Google Webmaster tools for all kinds of useful stuff. Monitoring backlinks to my website, checking for duplicated title tags and meta descriptions, and making sure I have no broken links floating around in Google's Index and if I do have broken links, they have a cool tool to remove them!

I also recommend Google Webmaster Tools to every one of my clients and teach them how to use it so they can get the same awesome results that I do  Grinning
