Setting up jdbc MYSQL d/b with Resin
« on: September 08, 2007, 03:47:37 PM »
I just set up Resin on my dedicated server, and thats fine.
I can't seem to get the right config for the MYSQL database though.
My database name is bostonwe_events. I have left out the real username and pw for obvious reasons.

In the Resin conf file, the database section, I have:
<database>
  <jndi-name>bostonwe_events</jndi-name>
  <driver>
    <type>com.mysql.jdbc.jdbc2.optional.MysqlConnectionPoolDataSource</type>
    <url>jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/bostonwe_events</url>
    <user>user name here</user>
    <password>pw here</password>
  </driver>
  <prepared-statement-cache-size>8</prepared-statement-cache-size>
  <max-connections>20</max-connections>
  <max-idle-time>30s</max-idle-time>
</database>

I get a 500 error:
java.sql.SQLException: Invalid authorization specification,  message from
server: "Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)"

I set up the d/b and user via the mysql options in the cpanel. Do I need an xml file with more parms?

Any help would be appreciated. I haven't heard back from support today.

Thanks,
Roger

Hi,

All looks correct to me in the entry you provided. Is there any other useful info in the resin logs?

Unfortunately, support can't assist with issues not related to the hosting plans or network.
Kind Regards,
Vlad Artamonov
