How do I upload my MSSQL database to the server?
« on: November 19, 2008, 04:53:01 PM »
This is a very basic task. Lunarpages should have a definitive guide for their customers.
Thanks.

Mysql can be 'exported' using phpmyadmin on your local machine and then 'imported' into the one on your server. I am sure there would be similar tools for the other databases, too.

Tell us what DB you are using and we'll help sort it out.

Yeap, the tutorial here http://wiki.lunarpages.com/Restore_MS_SQL_Database is perfect but it depends on the web-server you are hosted on cause different web-servers use different mssql servers; You can login using the following information:
1. Type in your database username and password.
2. You must choose 'SQL Server Authentication'
3. Choose 'Options' and change the dropdown for 'Network Protocols' to 'TCP/IP'.
Once logged in please follow the Backup instructions below:
Backing up Database:
1. Log in, click on 'Tools'; 'Backup Wizard (Web Hosting)'
2. Select the database from the drop-down menu and choose a name for it where it says 'Set name'
3. Choose 'Backup' to continue
4. Within 5 minutes, it should backup your database and provide you with a link that you can use to download the new backup. It will be in .bak format.
If you find that you can no longer access the database with the user that you have setup, then you will need to login to Plesk, delete the user and set it back up. You will then be able to access it through MyLittleAdmin again.
Restoring Database:
1. Provide your own database backup in .bak format
2. Log in, click on 'Tools'; 'Restore Wizard (Web Hosting)'
3. Select the database from the drop-down menu and choose 'Browse' to upload the .bak file from your local computer
4. Choose 'Restore Database' to continue
5. A warning message will appear indicating the backup file is being uploaded and in the process of restore
6. If the restore is successful, another message will appear indicating restore has finished

If you are still unable to restore your mSSQL database let us know or provide us the backup in .bak format and we will do the rest for you; just reach us at windows@lunarpages.com  ;D

No, you will either need to send your hosting company a backup to restore (if they allow this) or use the Database Import/Export Wizard to move your objects and data to the hosting company's server.  If they have the server open for outside access, such as Enterprise Manager or Query Analyzer, you should be able to do it through the transfer objects part of that wizard.

Hello,

We don't allow remote connections to our MSSQL server so you wont be able to connect via Enterprise Manager; the only way you can manage your mSSQL databases is via MyLittleAdmin the tool we provide for the MSSQL database management.

1) First ensure you are on one of our Plesk servers. Otherwise you should use Enterprise Manager or SQL Management Studio to remotely connect and import your data.
2) Login to your Plesk Control Panel
3) Go to Database option and create new database and user
4) Now create database dump (backup) of your local database. And create .bak file
5) Upload .bak file to /httpdocs folder of your website. (FTP upload)
6) Contact support and request that we restore your database with following details
a. Your domain name
b. .bak file name and path to access that e.g /httpdocs/mybackupfile.bak
c. MS SQL DB name
7) I will confirm the restore of your database when it is complete.
